Within the past fifteen minutes, Ferraro has told anecdotes about both Palushaj and Cole.  This pleases me greatly as a Blues fan.  I'll paraphrase both as best I can:

On Palushaj...

When Palushaj went through pre-draft interviews with the Blues, he told them "I will score at least 30 points as a freshman at Michigan...I will be an impact player."  And the Blues brass LOVED it.  Ferraro went on to praise Palushaj's offensive instincts, skills, and work ethic.

Edit: Palushaj scored 41 regular-season points during his freshman year in 42 games played.

On Cole...

Ian Cole, a first-round pick for St. Louis, is a big, physical, stay-at-home type guy.  He's had a great season, and Notre Dame is building their defense around him.

Edit: I forgot the mention that Cole makes a "great first pass" out of the zone as well...welcome news to say the least.

Great stuff.  And as I typed this, Notre Dame just grabbed a 3-0 lead with a SHG about 30 seconds left in the 1st...BEAUTIFUL short-side backhander by Thang over Sauer's shoulder.

Michigan pulled their outstanding goalie, Billy Sauer, after he gave up three goals in the first (two of which were pretty soft goals)...their backup, Hogan, is in to start the 2nd.

Michigan just scored two goals within fifteen seconds to make it a 3-2 game, midway thru the 2nd.

After Michigan had tied the game at 3 early in the 3rd, on a PPG that Palushaj picked up his second assist of the night on...Notre Dame just scored a real nice goal to make it 4-3.  Cole made the breakout pass to get the second assist.

And Palushaj just got his third assist, on a tying goal from Hagemin.  It was a harmless "throw it at the net" type of shot from a horrible angle that just squeezed between the post and the goalie's skate.

4 minutes to go (I'm a few minutes behind on the DVR)...tied at 4.

Ballgame...Ridderwall scores on a rebound for Notre Dame in overtime.

Helluva hockey game to watch.  Hope that the Irish can give the Eagles some sort of a fight in the Battle of Rich Catholic Institutions on Saturday.
