So we could possibly ice a team with DeePee and PeePee, maybe they could find a TeePee to put on a line with them.

For what it's worth (Eklund): Eklund Makes Up Shit About The Blues, 6/27/08 VersionThe Blues are a team that looks to be going the trade route and also may sit back and wait for the dust to settle a bit on the markets. Although this is frustrating to fans, this is actually a REALLY strong philosophy. The theory is the top guys are all over priced and let teams eat up their cap space so that there are less teams looking at some of the solid tier 2 and 3 players. This is an example of how the Predators landed Dumont. It can really be effective because the way this works is the stars get their money, the rookies get their money, the role players get their money but the line 2 and line 3 guys get squeezed.

Eklund says that the Blues are candidates for both Bouwmeester and Vermette on the trade market. Of course, he also had us linked to Weight on the UFA Chart, so...probably not so much.

Here are my current Jay Projections we will start with...
Jay Bouwmeester
Toronto (15%) Ottawa (5%) Boston (10%) Edmonton (5%) San Jose (10%) Dallas (15%) Colorado (15%) St Louis (15%) Pittsburgh (10%) and kids, for those of you following along at home, eklund can indeed count to 100.

"So you're saying there's a chance? YEAH!!!" Wonder what it would take from the Blues' standpoint...maybe Jax + ? On my rumor chart, the Blues have a 0.001% chance of successfully trading for Bouwmeester.

Panthers sign Bouwmeester to 1-year deal
Defenseman Jay Bouwmeester agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Florida Panthers on Monday, one day before the sides were scheduled to go to salary arbitration.
Bouwmeester will make between $4 million and $5 million next season, nearly doubling his salary, but the sides couldn't agree on a long-term deal that the Panthers sought.
Bouwmeester scored a career-high 15 goals last season, tied for sixth among NHL defensemen. He also continued to be one of the most dependable players in the league, playing all 82 games for the third straight year and logging 2,252 minutes, by far the most in the NHL.
"While we recognize that arbitration was an option, we were always confident we would reach a mutually acceptable contract with Jay," Panthers general manager Jacques Martin said.
In his career, Bouwmeester has played in 389 games, all with Florida, with 38 goals, 123 assists and 261 penalty minutes. He was an All-Star in 2007 and was the No. 3 overall pick by the Panthers in the 2002 entry draft. *whew*

Not so fast, my friend...the rumor-mongers believe this makes a Bouwmeester trade more likely. The question now becomes, do they trade prior to the season, or at the deadline?

Impossible...rumor-mongers, by definition, can only monger rumors...they're not qualified for mongering anything else. Come to think of it, I've never heard of any other types of mongers before.

Eklund wrote: Just talked to a source regarding Bryan Smolinski. Bryan is a valuable player who is still very much out there as a UFA right now. However, I am told that Bryan won't be a free agent for long....
Teams interested: NY Islanders (e2), Thrashers (e2), Canucks (e2), Oilers (e3)
Also I am starting to tweak the Hockeybuzz Rumour Chart as the environment shifts from Free Agents to trade rumours...
Quick Hit Trade Rumours...*
Vermette from Sens to Oilers for Staios(e3). Also Vermette to Nashville for Hamhuis...(e1)
Also Prucha and a pick from Rangers to Vancouver for a Prospect, and two third round picks...(e2)
Afinogenov to St. Louis for Jay McKee (e2)
* As always trade rumours are often NOT COMPLETE. A few names may leak, while others don't. Do NOT assume that the trade will be EXACTLY as rumoured..
