Quote from: TSN
RED WINGS FORWARD DALLAS DRAKE ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT

Detroit Red Wings forward Dallas Drake announced his retirement Tuesday a month after raising the Stanley Cup for the first time in his 16-year career.

Drake, 39, was a sixth-round pick in the 1989 entry draft. He began his career in Detroit in 1992 after playing four seasons at Northern Michigan University.

The Red Wings traded Drake to Winnipeg in 1994. He played in Phoenix and St. Louis before Detroit signed him to a one-year contract in July 2007.

Drake has 177 goals, 300 assists and 885 penalty minutes in 1,009 regular-season games. He has 14 goals, 19 assists and 79 penalty minutes in 90 playoff games.

Always liked him, glad he won a cup, but I'm sorry it had to be with the darth vaders of hockey.  This is probably the smartest decision he's made in awhile.

Did the Wings give him a special ceremony for playing 1000 games?

The whole thing is weird, anyway, because KT always says he likes the bottom.

I was guilty of calling Drake a skirt wearing pansy when he played for the Blues, and I wasn't very impressed when the Wings signed him, and that continued through the regular season.  But what I saw him do in the playoffs changed everything.
